College of Education, Nagaon was established in 1992 as a result of the effort of some educationists of Nagaon. It is one of the premier teacher training institute of Assam. Its classes were first held in Dawson Higher Secondary School,Nagaon. In 1994 College was shifted to its own building located near Srimanta Sankar Mission Road(In between Srimanta Sankar Mission and Normal School,Nagaon.) at a distance of about 200 metres from 37 No National Highway.

It has an adequate number of competent and dedicated teacher educators in the teaching staff, a big library with all necessary text-books and reference books, and attractive building with a big hall for general classes and rooms for method classes, multipurpose laboratory, computer laboratory, indoor games etc. Facilities for outdoor games, cultural activities and computer education are also available.

It is for the good results shown every year since its inception in addition to the facilities mentioned above that the college attracts students from different part of the country and every year the number of applicants exceeds the number of candidates that the college can admit as per NCTE rule.
